Klean Kanteen January 6, 2009 Item arrived very promptly and was exactly what I ordered. The only issue with the product is when there is no liquid in the kanteen, when twisting the lid on or off it makes a very loud squeaky noise- HOWEVER- when liquids are present this noise goes away.
Great for everything! January 6, 2009 This bottle is great! You can carry everything from hot soup to frozen drinks, very durable. Love the color -blue-I own 2 klean kanteens, different sizes.Cleans up easy, tight seal, no leaking.
Clean Cool Water January 4, 2009 These canteens are a good deal for the price. A friend tells me he paid $60 when these first came out, however they probably were not made in China back then. The machining is fairly good (not perfect) and they are made from food grade stainless steal although the question of the quality of the stainless steal has been raised. KK says a representative visits the factory 5-6 times a year and an independent lab in the US is regularly testing samples.
The color versions (I bought 6 of these) seem to have a high quality enamel baked on that should be reasonably durable. The pictures here are a little deceptive in respect to color; to get a truer idea of the colors go to the Klean Kanteen website.
It seems people are finally starting to learn that SOME plastics that come in contact with food and drink are harmful. In their product literature, Klean Kanteen mentions other "lined metal containers" which almost certainly refers to SIGG bottles. If you are considering a SIGG bottle, I would advise against it: they are aluminum with a proprietary lining that more than likely contains BPA.
Easier to send to school! January 2, 2009 I bought 2-27 ounce kanteens to replace the plastic bottles I was sending to school. Result? my sons and I couldn't be happier. The kanteens keep water cooler and for a longer period of time than plastic bottles with ice. Albiet, a cold kanteen can be uncomfortable to handle-a problem with an easy solution. Put one of the kids socks on it (or yours) and you have a free, washable and a very suitable cover for your kanteen.
The boys love it so much they're using them at home, hence I'm back to buy 2 more smaller ones for home use.
Note: they do dent, if dropped (but doesn't negatively impact kanteen) and the sport cap will whistle if you guzzle non-stop (but it's not that bad) they're quite enough for the boys to use in their classroom with no problems.
Klean Kanteens are the best! January 2, 2009 Klean Kanteens are the best! No plastic liner to give you cancer or deteriorate over time. I recommend a BYOB to carry it because they get cold when you place cold water in them. Awesome product for reducing your carbon footprint. No more plastic water bottles!!
