Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The Linksys WRT110 RangePlus Wireless Router is really three devices in one box. There's the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect to the network without wires. A built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100 Switch connects your wired-Ethernet devices together. The Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection. The Access Point built into the Router uses smart antenna technology to achieve extended range. The Multiple In, Multiple Out (MIMO) technology actually uses these reflections to increase the range and reduce dead spots in the wireless coverage area. The robust signal travels farther, maintaining wireless connections much farther than standard Wireless-G. With MIMO, the farther away you are, the more speed advantage you get. The RangePlus Wireless Router can dynamically enable this double-speed mode for compatible devices, while still connecting to other wireless devices at their respective fastest speeds. To help protect your data and privacy, the Router can encode all wireless transmissions with industrial-strength 256-bit encryption. It can serve as your network's DHCP Server, has a powerful SPI firewall to protect your PCs against intruders and most known Internet attacks, and supports VPN pass-through. Configuration is a snap with the web browser-based configuration utility. With the Linksys RangePlus Wireless Router at the center of your home or office network, you can share a high-speed Internet connection, files, printers, and multi-player games, and run media-intensive applications at incredible speeds, without the hassle of stringing wires.

5 out of 5 stars Linksys WRT110 nice product   January 6, 2009
Linksys WRT110 is working beautifully it was simple to connect. I have not had any problems.

5 out of 5 stars Wireless Router meets sliced bread simplicity   January 6, 2009
I purchased this router with the intention of replacing a router I had which was burnt by lightening. I anticipated at least a half an hour setup to get it up and running as my previous router required some configuring. This Router took no more than 10 minutes to setup this is including WPA2 security and all. Since the day it has been setup it has just worked, plain and simple, the range is absolutely wonderful and if you don't look you won't know it's there. the design is sleek and wonderful you don't have to worry about unsightly antennas or gaudy lights flashing all over. The router's all black design with the sleek blue lights make it very subtle dare I say with a router this sleek you may want to make it a part of your decor instead of trying to hide it. All in all I bought one for myself and ended up buying another for a friend I find myself now wondering if anyone else would like a gift like this I love it !!!

1 out of 5 stars Garbage   January 3, 2009
Purchased this to replace a 5 year old WRT54G that had finally died. The WRT54G was flawless- I configured it initially and never had to touch it again. So I had high expectations for the "next generation" WRT.

Setup is straight-forward and easy- only gripe here is the wizard does not allow you to turn SSID Broadcast off.

Real trouble began after the clients connected. This router does not maintain connections, period. The wireless clients repeatedly lose connection to the router, and the only way to fix it is to powercycle the router. After searching the reviews here on Amazon, these problems seem pandemic with this device.

I am replacing this with an older WRT54GS. Why did Cisco take such a simple and good product and ruin it?

2 out of 5 stars Be careful about this router and no range plus   January 2, 2009
This router has many flaws. First, the range is not good (much worse than my old Belkin, i.e. low vs. very good signal strength on the same spot). Second, installation software is buggy. The startup program did not recognize my cable modem. I tried multiple times, and finally I just ignore the startup program, rebooted the cable modem, and then connected the router to the modem. Third, NEVER/avoiding install the provided network management program. The installation took long time installed many things including .NET framework, etc.,and added several programs to your computer auto startup list. But worst of all, it crashed (core dumped) when running just for 10 seconds. I did a complete uninstall, but found my XP wireless driver was killed (with an error msg to search in Window's knowledge database). This is unthinkable, i.e. a complete uninstall provided by the software cannot restore the original system state. It took me many hours, and still it could not be fixed. Luckily, I found my laptop restored automatically before the software installation, and I could roll back. This avoided a major crisis. I had a very good impression of my previous Linksys router, e.g. sturdy and reliable. This router scares me, with its buggy installation program, poor range (no plus if not minus in range), and its dangerous network management program, e.g. crashed during the run, and a complete uninstall destroyed my laptop wireless driver. Make sure do a restore on your computer, before using the software provided with this router. If you have an old Belkin or Netgare, do a test of the range and signal strength before replacing them with this range plus Linksys router.

1 out of 5 stars Not Great   December 29, 2008

First off, I've installed and configured routers for the last 10 years, so this is not my first - but it will be my last of this model.

My only real complaint is that the router does not behave properly and for me this is the only thing. I would make changes in the the setup - which is just like every other Linksys router I've worked with and the changes would say they're saved, but nothing would change. I could not get the advanced security to turn off at all. Agghhhh. I spent 4 frustrating hours yesterday flashing, rebooting, and praying. I finally had enough and picked up old reliable - Linksys WRT54G - and I was up in about 5 minutes with full coverage, good speed and no complaints. I think Cisco has to stop getting creative and just focus on building solid routers.
