Solid - not incredible, but solid October 29, 2008 The product itself is great - once you get to used to it. Keyboard feels like it can take a beating, the faux-leather handrest is very comfortable, and the mouse has a nice feel to it (unless you've got small hands). No problems with Vista x64.
One caveat: don't bother w/ MS's Intellipoint software/drivers for the mouse. It'll making using the mouse a chore. If you use Winamp, it will NOT scroll down if Intellipoint is installed. That's just the biggest bug; there are many more nuisances, including erratic and inaccurate scrolling. Not the hardware, it's the software. Intellitype for the keyboard is fine, even useful.
Overall, as long as you don't care about customizing what the mouse buttons do (yes, the side ones work fine as forward/back functions w/o the software), then this is a good k/m set. If you do care, then get Logitech; while their software is bloated as well, it at least works.
Question about the price May 12, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I do not own this yet, but would like to buy it. However, why are you charging $340.00 for an item that Microsoft lists for $130.00?
Something is JUST NOT RIGHT here!!! I've been looking for a decent keyboard for over a year. Logitech should burn in hell. Microsoft seems to be good...but not for $340!!??
Works well if the mouse does not loose power April 15, 2008 I bought this set because my notebook already had a Bluetooth receiver built in and I did not want to have to deal with an additional receiver. It works well with the exception that I wanted to save battery power by removing the batteries from the mouse when traveling, but when I put the batteries back in I had to go back through the sync process. It was kind of a pain, so I decided to keep the batteries in at all times.
Solid March 11, 2008 A solid wireless desktop. Has most of the bells and whistles that you might want.
The mouse is very big. I would recommend trying it out in a retail store to get a feel for it. The keyboard is enormous and heavy. However, it does have a very nice wrist pad built in, and is great for typing.
The bluetooth adapter is small, and uses the windows bluetooth stack. I did not use the adapter, since I already have one. I did not experience any lag with the keyboard or mouse, contrary to what other reviewer reported (I think this is purely a placebo effect on their part). I have not used it long enough to comment on the battery life.
Excellent Keyboard and Mouse March 8, 2008 I can sit on my recliner any distance from the computer screen and play games, check email, etc. - without cords or a mousepad (works great on the arm of the chair). How can you beat that? The keyboard has lots of built-in keys to start common programs - email, internet, photos, music, and several fully programmable keys. Works great out of the box. Occasionally, on a reboot the computer can't detect the keyboard and/or mouse and you have to go through the setup process again (it takes about a minute) - which is annoying, but worth the trouble, because the product is otherwise great. -- Glenn G.
