Awesome fully functional mini laptop!!! January 3, 2009 This computer is amazing! All of my favorite programs from my desktop perform perfectly on this computer. This Netbook has almost a five hour battery life and with the fast startups you can turn it off when finished and save the battery. The eee pc has a full version of xp and I run mcaffee antivirus and have found no software issues whatsoever. The mousepad even has advanced gestures for scolling, working the browser and zooming. The only thing that takes some getting used to for people that use a 20inch+ display is the text is kind of small but for a second computer or for trips this is the perfect travel companion(with built in wireless). Buy it you won't regret it! Look areound-one of the fastest netbooks for the cheapest price with low consumption atom processor.
Nice little package January 2, 2009 After looking at several netbooks and compairing them , found that all had different pros and cons. I purchased the Asus Eee PC 904HA /Atom N270 , with the 6 cell battery , because reviews claimed long running power on single charge , those reviews were dead on ,so much easier to turn on this netbook ,within 8-10 secs up and running surfing the web. This model was also expandable to 2 gb ram others were 1.5 gb ...why? Weighs in at about 3 pounds, which is heavier than the competition...but built solid , power management is a kick ...machine cuts down power consumption when max power is not needed. Shuts down in 5-6 secs. overall I am very pleased and some what surprised that at the price this little unit was as well built inside as it was outside, nice design .
What you need to know! December 29, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
(written on my EeePC with a desktop keyboard unused nearby!) -The EeePC is pretty much the same as the MSI Wind, Dell Mini, Aspire One, etc.. hardware on all of these are pretty much the same. So why Asus? Why the 904HA? 1. 160 GB real HD.. incredible little media station. SSD isn't worth it, and it certainly isn't worth the severe loss of hard drive space. 2. Multi-touch, large touch pad with mouse keys where they should be, not to either side like the Lenovo, Aspire, Etc. 3. 6 Cell Battery. 5 hours of juice, fannntastic feature. 4. Price. You'll enjoy the expression on peoples faces when you tell them what you paid. 5. Power modes.. being able to trim down performance when you're just cruising to save power is wonderful.
Basic experience for me, things to note: -Right shift key is small, and too close to enter and the arrow keys.. you'll have to get used to it.. Otherwise the keyboard is easy to type on and is one of the more pleasant keyboards I've used. -I run Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid.. runs fantastic. Period.. Looks better than vista on this little thing and it runs great!!.. XP does as well. You'll be pleased.
Bottom line, with the one caveat being the shift key.. this Netbook has the few things that put it above the rest. It's not a primary computer, but even computer junkies like me will be pleasantly surprised at the Atom 1.6.. Go for it!
Battery DOA December 28, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Bought this for my wife for Christmas, and she was very pleased. We weren't so pleased to find the battery won't charge. I had to wait until today, the 27th, for Tech support to be available, then told to call back the 29th to get an RMA# -- I'm a Mac user & when I buy PC's, I go Dell. This was a leap for me, but the specs, reviews, & price seemed good & my wife needed a very portable solution, so I'm giving ASUS a go. Naturally it's a major bummer to get a brand new product with problems, out of the box. "Apple" would have had a replacement battery in the mail already, as would Dell. Oh well, par for the course I expect. Will let you know what transpires :-)

Purchased with an additional gig of memory. Came with XT installed. Fast, small, and light. Great bang for the buck. Only issue is the small screen and having to scroll...but I knew that. Can't have everything.
